Monica Leigh Video Review

Today I will review two different DVDs that have recently been released featuring Playboy Playmate Monica Leigh. The first to be reviewed is "Monica's Playmate Calendar". Which is Playboy's yearly release of a calendar style video that has a vignette of each centerfold for her given month. Miss March is Monica Leigh.

The second video I've reviewed is Monica's very first hardcore movie entitled "Monica Leigh: Superslut". An ambitious romp into the x-rated world by this super hot nude Playboy Playmate.

REVIEW: "Playboy 2006 Playmate Calendar: Monica Leigh"

Playboy Video Centerfold: Monica Leigh appears in an aspect ratio of 1.33:1 on this single-sided, single-layered DVD; due to those dimensions, the image has not been enhanced for 16X9 televisions. While not perfect, Year was better looking than most Playboy products. Colors was mostly positive. The tones consistently looked natural and vibrant. Overall, the main problems was softness, but the program was still attractive enough for a “B-“. Sharpness seemed decent. At times, some softness popped up, usually due to a gauzy style of photography apparently meant to smooth out some of Monica’s harder edges. Overall definition was fine, and only occasional, minor instances of jagged edges or shimmering occurred. As for source flaws, I noticed a little video artifacting but that was it. The Dolby Surround 2.0 soundtrack seemed more ordinary, though it was a little better than other Playboy mixes. Most elements stayed in the middle, but music showed some Monica Leigh spread. Those elements heavily dominated the program, and the songs blended mildly to the side and surround channels. Dialogue stayed in the middle, and the occasional effects remained centered as well other than some light echo.

Playmate Monica Leigh splashes across the screen in a blue plaid dress and white blouse carrying her school books as she tells us a little about herself on the soundtrack. She then poses on some brick stairs in a classic centerfold thong. As for the location I think it is a very nice house which is suppose to double for a college campus. She sits on the stairs and the camera pans up for an up-skirt peek at her white panties under her skirt. Now she’s back in the blue thong in a large field of grass opening her top to expose her breasts. Another shot of Monica Leigh's white panties as she sits on the brick stairs follows. Next we cut to a bedroom as Monica lies on her side on the bed with fellow Playboy Playmate Alison Waite. The camera starts to pan up as they begin to touch each other.

Now we view Monica Leigh in a red mini-dress with her breasts still exposed through the blouse. She starts to pull her panties down then teasingly stops. Just when we thought we were going to get full-frontal from Playmate Monica we might have had the rug pulled out from under us. We’ve been waiting a long time for this. Did Miss Leigh become a prude all of a sudden? Not at all. She was just waiting for the camera to move in for a close-up before revealing her twat. It does appear she is completely shaved down there. The director then takes the opportunity to pan up, following her hands, passed her breasts, and on to her lovely face. Next Monica is teasing us exposing her breasts through her unbuttoned blouse. This is by far the best scene in the entire video.

In the following scene we see Monica Leigh is reclining on the grass on a blue blanket wearing just her white panties and unbuttoned top. As she kneels on the blanket we see that she’s lost the panties as the camera pans up over her crotch to her mostly covered breasts and up to her face. Next Monica lies nude (except for shoes and socks) on her stomach on a bed and we finally get a nice view of her buns. Now Miss Leigh is standing outdoors and as the camera pans up she raises her little skirt to show her pink panties. She appears nude wearing just the tie and there is a quick frontal shot. This portion of Monica’s segment ends with her walking towards up wearing nothing but a smile.

On the next scene we cut to a shoot in the desert. There are trailers and equipment and the whole thing looks big-budget. There are numerous shots of her posing for a photographer in that outfit then finally we cut to her standing in the desert waving white fabric in the air. This reminds me of past Playboy videos featuring Playmates such as Lindsay Wagner nude in similar locations (maybe even the same exact one). Miss Leigh is completely shaven down there. There are more shots of her in the black dress posing for the photographer and some very interesting camera shots, making use of the vastness of the desert, are included. Now Monica is posing nude, except for black garters and stockings, on a round couch-like thing in the middle of the desert. There are more shots of her posing completely nude in the desert including a nice close-up pan up her body, then she’s back to posing for the photographer in a shorter black dress. There are more nude shots of her walking through the desert in a strong wind and holding the white fabric as it flies over her head. Monica Leigh poses nude on the set for a bit and there are a number of full-frontal shots but there really were no good shots of her buns in the entire segment, just two brief looks. The director (or editor) needs to be taken to the woodshed for this oversight.

The final scene is the best as we get playboy Playmates Monica Leigh and Heather Kozar in the same bed together. Monica is looking awesome as usual as she does a slow, sexy striptease for the other girls. Then, when they're all good and wet, Miss Leigh breaks out a purple jelly dildo and works the other two Playmates over until they each have wild orgasms. They then recipricate by taking turns licking Monica's perfect breasts and cute little pussy. The chemistry between the three Playmatesis excellent as they really seem to want to be there. Monica is especially horny as she seems to have multiple orgasms throught the scene. If you're a big Monica Leigh fan, then this scene alone will be worth the purchase price of this DVD.

As we head to the supplements, we find a few materials. First we get some Behind the Scenes. These include glimpses of “Monica Leigh’s Playboy Magazine Photo Shoot” and “Playmate of the Year DVD Shoot”. Both work the same way, as we watch the sessions and hear comments from Monica Leigh about the experiences. She adds pretty decent insight into the recreations of classic photos for the first featurette, but she gives us nothing of us in the second one. There she just talks about how Monica Leigh amazing and wonderful everything was. We get some of that in the magazine, but there’s enough good content to make it moderately informative. What I really wanted to see was her appearance on The Howard Stern Show. But alas, it was not meant to be.

During the main program’s 37 minutes, we see Monica Leigh in a mix of settings. The set-ups will seem familiar to fans of Playboy Playmate videos, as we’ve seen plenty of similar material in the past. Five vignettes form the majority of the piece. Monica bounces around a movie lot to a country tune and then she poses with some porn star in a super hot girl-girl scene. In one fantasy sequence, she snags some dude’s cameraphone and takes nude shots of herself, while in another, movie-star Miss Leigh escapes photographers and then poses on a rooftop. The other elements show Monica Leigh in classic pinup poses which are the best part of the video by far. There should have been a lot more of this kind of stuff.

In between these pictorial elements, Monica Leigh chats about her life. She also tells us about her experiences at Playboy and her first sexual experiences. These don’t fill a lot of time, however, as the vignettes dominate the program. As always, we learn little real information about Monica. Playmates always talk in generic tones about themselves and their careers, so these segments quickly turn tedious. I suppose the DVDs have to include them, but they’re pretty lame. This video makes me long for natural breasted Playmates. But except for Miss Leigh's fake tits, she's about as hot as they come and might make the DVD worth getting for her alone.

Unfortunately, I find little reason to rewatch any of Monica’s nude scenes over again either. Granted, she was going to be a tough sell for me due to her chest. I really don’t like implants on my Playboy Playmates. They're okay on Penthouse Pets because of their skanky nature, but on Playboy centerfolds, they just look bad. This dislike of breast implants spreads to Monica Leigh herself, as she lacks the “girl next door” charm of the best Playboy models. She’s not as fake and processed as some, but Monica often comes across as an artificial presence.

That leaves this Video Centerfold as a disappointing dud. I may not be wild about Monica Leigh, but I certainly expected hotter action than what I found in this dull video, especially since I’ve seen many sexy vignettes that featured models I find to be significantly less attractive. Miss Leigh lacks presence and charisma in front of the camera, and the director fails to do anything to spice up the proceedings. Overall, this is a weak Playboy product.

A disappointing video for a disappointing Playmate of the Year, Playboy Video Centerfold: Playmate of the Year Monica Leigh never becomes anything very interesting. It would have been much better if she had done a lezbo scene. Picture and sound quality are consistently acceptable but no better. The set comes with a few nice extras, particularly since it includes a few bonus video pictorials. Overall, this is a mediocre release that I don’t recommend to anyone other than true Monica Leigh fans.

REVIEW: "Monica Leigh: Superslut"

This video is great except for the fact that it hardly features Monica Leigh at all. There are plenty of other hot young girls, but Miss Leigh is in only three out of the fifteen scenes! If that's the case, why is it called "Monica Leigh: Superslut"? Why not "A Bunch of Slutty Girls Plus Monica"? That would have been more fitting. Guess the producers are trying to cash in on the fact that Monica Leigh is a popular Playboy Playmate. Suckers like me will think that the entire video is about her, when in fact, she is only a small part of it. Oh well, three scenes with Miss Leigh is better than none, so I'll take what I can get. Because Monica isn't in the other scenes, I'm not going to write about them here. But trust me, they're all good. They all feature super hot little sluts sucking cocks to completion. None of them is as attractive as Monica Leigh, but they're not Playboy Playmates, so we've got to cut them some slack. They give good head though, and that's what really counts.

Tiffany Selby leads off the video and she is super cute. She could also be Monica Leigh's little sister with that face and voice.
