Kara Monaco Video Review

Today I will review two different DVDs that have recently been released featuring Playboy's Playmate of the Year Kara Monaco.

The first to be reviewed is Kara's Playmate Calendar. Which is Playboy's yearly release of a calendar style video that consists of a vignette of each centerfold for her given month, then several scenes of that year's Playmate of the Year. This year that PMOY is Kara Monaco and she's completely nude! A good overall choice as Kara is a natural blonde haired, blue eyed beach bunny type that always looks fresh and sexy.

The second video I've reviewed is Kara's very first hardcore porn movie entitled "Kara Monaco: Superslut". An ambitious romp into the x-rated world by this super hot Playmate.

REVIEW: "Playboy 2006 Playmate Calendar: Kara Monaco"

For many years I’ve been disappointed by Playboy Playmates. Actually, I think they’ve let me down even more frequently than even Penthouse Pets. I’m not sure that there’s ever been a year Hef and I agreed on PMOY, though some years I’m more disappointed than others. And now you can add Kara Monaco to the pile of let-downs. I thought 2006 presented two exceptional Playmates: Athena Lundberg (Miss January) and Hope Dworaczyk (Miss September). I liked some of the others as well, but those two stood out as easily the best the year had to offer.

After a couple of poor blonde-haired choices to start the 21st century, Playboy finally started to recognize brunettes. This meant the presence of Alison Waite as PMOY 2006. Not only did we get two straight dark-haired PMOYs, but the magazine also went against the silicone trend of recent years. Before Kara Monaco, 8 of the prior 10 PMOYs were clearly “enhanced”, but both came with wonderfully natural breasts with pink, puffy niples.

All of this meant I thought there was little chance we’d get another brunette PMOY for 2006, much less one without implants, so there went my hopes for either to win. Well, my prediction was half-correct. Raven-haired nude Kara Monaco is as dark-haired as they come, but she clearly went under the knife before her Playboy experience. I’ve seen more obvious boob jobs, but I’ve also observed many more natural-looking “enhancements”. So while Playboy went with an unprecedented third-straight brunette PMOY, they picked the wrong one. Despite my disdain for breast implants, I still think I should like Miss Monaco, or at least find her more enticing than I do. However, as demonstrated in this Playboy Video Centerfold: Playmate of the Year, Kara Monaco presents a curiously bland and uninspiring presence.

In the first scene Kara starts off in a large room wearing just a white shirt, a blue tie, and socks. As she tells us a little about herself she poses on a couch on all fours. Next the shirt and tie are stripped off and Miss Monaco spends some time in a purple bra and panties. Back in the white shirt and tie Kara dances around the room a bit then falls back into the couch letting the white shirt fall open exposing her breasts. Next there is an extreme close-up of Kara's purple panties as she pulls them down and a shot of her shaved box fills the screen and suddenly she is totally nude which is nice.

More dancing in the white shirt and tie is followed by a pan up her body as the shirt has been both pulled up and down, resting on her midsection, exposing her breasts and cooch. Now Miss Monaco is twirling around as the camera moves in for a close-up of alternating shots of her breasts and buns. Next Kara twirls around the room wearing just the unbuttoned shirt and socks. With the shirt pulled up she gives alternating views of buns and full-frontal nudity. Kara Monaco dances around some more completely nude except for the white shirt open and leaving her mostly exposed. Suddenly we see the back of the head of some guy looking down on Kara from some stairs. He starts to clap and when Kara sees him she starts to laugh and acts a little embarrassed while covering up her almost nude body.

In this setup, our girl Kara Monaco is out in nature walking under a structure that I might describe as an ancient Greek gazebo. She is wearing white lingerie left parted at the waist and leaving her kitty exposed. She is also carrying a fiddle for some onknown reason. She dances around wearing just that tiny bit of clothing. There are a couple of pans up her body including one while she is slowly walking and now with the top of the lingerie parted as well, leaving her breasts as well as her butt exposed.

Next Kara appears by a gate wearing a white bra and panties. In the blink of an eye both disappear and there is a close-up of her box as the camera works its way up over her breasts and to her face. Kara runs nude through the forest then there is a pan up her nude body as she lies on her side as her legs are slightly parted. She twirls around some more in the tiny bit of lingerie which leaves just about all of her body exposed. This scene was very good except for the fact that it doesn't feature Miss Monaco enough.

The last scene is probably my favorite as we get Raquel Gibson and Dasha Astafieva all in the same bed together. Kara is looking amazing as usual as she does a slow, sexy striptease for the other girls. Then, when they're all good and wet, Miss Monaco breaks out a purple jelly double-dong and works the other two Playmates over until they each have screaming orgasms. They then recipricate by taking turns licking Kara's ample breasts and clean-shaven pussy. The chemistry between the three girls is excellent as they really seem to want to be there. Kara is especially worked-up as she seems to have multiple orgasms throught the scene. If you're a big Kara Monaco fan, then this scene alone will be worth the purchase price for you.

During the main program’s 37 minutes, we see Kara Monaco in a mix of settings. The set-ups will seem familiar to fans of Playboy videos, as we’ve seen plenty of similar material in the past. Five vignettes form the majority of the piece. Kara bounces around a movie lot to a country tune and then she poses in an edgy New York loft. In one fantasy sequence, she snags some dude’s cameraphone and takes nude shots of herself, while in another, movie-star Miss Monaco eating out the Shannon twins while several construction workers watch.

In between these pictorial elements, Kara Monaco chats about her life and her personality. She also tells us about her experiences at Playboy. These don’t fill a lot of time, however, as the vignettes dominate the program.
As always, we learn little real information about the model. Playmates always talk in generic tones about themselves and their careers, so these Kara Monaco segments quickly turn tedious. I suppose the DVDs have to include them, but they’re eminently skippable.

Unfortunately, I find little reason to rewatch any of Kara Monaco’s nude vignettes either. This video makes me long for natural chested Playmates like Jillian Grace whose breasts are a site to behold. Granted, she was going to be a tough sell for me due to her chest. I really don’t like implants, and hers look bad here. In photos, they often seem surprisingly decent, but in these videos, her breasts come across as hard and bulbous. This spreads to Miss Monaco herself, as she lacks the “girl next door” charm of the best Playboy models. She’s not as fake and processed as Kayla Collins who is arguably the worst ever choice for Playmate.

That leaves this Video Centerfold as a disappointing dud. I may not be wild about Kara Monaco as PMOY, but I certainly expected hotter action than what I found in this dull video, especially since I’ve seen many sexy vignettes that featured models I find to be significantly less attractive. Kara lacks presence and charisma in front of the camera, and the director fails to do anything to spice up the proceedings. This is a weak Playboy product.

The DVD Grades: Picture A-/ Audio C+/ Bonus B-

Playboy Video Centerfold: Playmate of the Year Kara Monaco appears in an aspect ratio of 1.33:1 on this single-sided, single-layered DVD; due to those dimensions, the image has not been enhanced for 16X9 televisions. While not perfect, Year was better looking than most Playboy products. Colors was mostly positive. The tones consistently looked natural and vibrant. Due to the styles of photography, some gauziness occurred, but that wasn’t much of a problem, as the hues mainly were lively and dynamic. Blacks seemed good and not too muddy, and shadows were Kara Monaco seems reasonably smooth and distinctive. Overall, the main problems was softness, but the program was still attractive enough for a “B-“. Sharpness seemed decent. The scene where she goes down on fellow Playmate Cassandra Lynn is really good, but it's not long enough. Delineation was erratic, as some shots were crisp and concise while others looked liked they’d smeared Vaseline on the lens. Overall definition was fine, and only occasional, minor instances of jagged edges or shimmering occurred. As for source flaws, I noticed a little video artifacting but that was it.

As we head to the supplements, we find a few materials. First we get some Behind the Scenes. These include glimpses of “Kara Monaco’s Playboy Magazine Photo Shoot” and “Playmate of the Year DVD Shoot”. Both work the same way, as we watch the sessions and hear comments from Kara about her experiences. She adds pretty decent insight into the recreations of classic photos for the first featurette, but she gives us nothing of us in the second one. There she just talks about how Kara Monaco amazing and wonderful everything was. We get some of that in Playboy magazine, but there’s enough good content to make it moderately informative.

A disappointing video for a disappointing Playmate of the Year, Playboy Video Centerfold: Playmate of the Year Kara Monaco never becomes anything very interesting. I’m not wild about Miss Monaco as a model, and the video vignettes do nothing to make her more appealing. They’re generic and bland and fail to deliver the goods. The only one worth a damn was the one with Kara and Michelle McLaughlin describing how they please each other at home. The two of them have been lesbian lovers for quite some time now, although Kara denies it. Picture and sound quality are consistently acceptable but no better. The set comes with a few nice extras, particularly since it includes a few bonus video pictorials. Overall, this is a mediocre release that I don’t recommend to anyone other than true Kara Monaco fans. So buy it if you like Kara, and don't if you don't. That's all I've got to say about this video.

REVIEW: "Kara Monaco: Superslut"

This video is great except for the fact that it hardly features Kara Monaco at all. There are plenty of other hot young girls, that's for sure, but Miss Monaco is in only three out of the fifteen scenes! If that's the case, why is it called "Kara Monaco: Superslut"? Why not "A Bunch of Slutty Girls Plus Kara Monaco"? That would have been more fitting. Guess the producers are trying to cash in on the fact that Kara is a popular Playboy Playmate. Suckers like me will think that the entire video is about Kara, when in fact, she is only a small part of it. False advertising pisses me off! Oh well, three scenes with Miss Monaco is better than none, so I'll take what I can get. Because Kara isn't in the other scenes, I'm not going to write about them here. But trust me, they're all good. They all feature super hot little sluts sucking cocks to comlpetion. None of them is as attractive as Kara Monaco, but they're not Playboy Playmates, so we got to cut them some slack. They give good head though, and that's what really counts.
