Miss February is a psychology student, but she prefers turning heads to shrinking them.

Many people will tell you that family is the key element in their life, but when Heather Rene Smith says so, the lovely blonde with the dark, inquisitive eyes isn't merely mouthing a convenient cliché. Heather Rene lost her mother when she was 11 and was raised by her grandmother in Rochester, New York with a houseful of cousins who were also tragically bereft. "My grandmother really helped me keep my head screwed on straight," says 24-year-old Heather Rene Smith. "Her home was like a halfway house for a lot of us, and she and my aunt took care of us. I honestly feel luckier having been raised this way rather than in a traditional family. We all have each other's back. My family is the most important part of my life."

Miss Smith first appeared in Playboy for their 50th Anniversary Playmate Search in 2003 and is happy to be back. "I feel totally comfortable in front of the camera," she says. "I hate clothes. I really do." Her friend Tyran Richard (who was already a Playboy Playmate) convinced Heather Rene to pose for the magazine. Since that appearance she has been pursuing a degree in psychology and is now just three semesters short of graduation. When asked to analyze her own personality, however, she manages to avoid shrinky jargon. "I'm definitely an outgoing person," she says. "I like to make jokes, even when I'm under pressure. Whenever people are unhappy I'll try to make light of the situation. I have a joke for every situation," says our girl Heather.

As apt a self-appraisal as that may be, Miss Smith says she's even better at analyzing another group: men. "I know their game better than they do," she says with an assured laugh. "I can figure any guy out- I don't even have to date him." Though she feels she can tell whenever masculine wheels have started spinning, Heather Rene has no appetite for the kind of mind games some men and women like to play.

"No, I don't like to play games," Heather Rene says, "but if you're going to play games with me, then I'll beat you. I'm very competitive." This tendency, she admits, affects her romantic relationships. "Oh yeah, I'm the boss," she acknowledges, "or maybe my boyfriends just let me think I am. But what I say goes. I need a lot of love and attention. It's how I was raised. My grandma always tried to compensate for our losing our parents by giving us love, love, love, love, love. That's what I'm used to. And if a man can't provide it, then I'll turn to a woman like Sandra Nilsson or some other hot Playmate."

Growing up a stone's throw from the beach has left Miss Smith with a deep appreciation for the life aquatic. "On weekends we always get really drunk and take a boat out and go riding on a Jet Ski," Heather Rene says. "Then we anchor the boat, lie out, blast music and dance on the bow. Sometimes we'll look at other boats and see people staring at us through binoculars. One time, my lover Shannon James and I gave them a show they'll NEVER forget! We got really crazy! It was so much fun!"

Heather Rene knows new worlds are opening for her and more await; she hopes one day to get a doctorate in child psychology. But she's sure she has a good foundation for what lies ahead. "I'll never think I'm better than anyone," she says. "I'll always be that poor girl named Heather Rene Smith. My family is my strength. There's nothing that can bring me down."

Another Heather Rene Smith Bio:

Miss February is on the prowl.

When Heather Rene Smith strides into our office for this interview, we can almost hear her amazing cheekbones slicing through the air as she approaches. "I'm half German and half American Indian, so I have very sharp features," she says, almost apologetically. "People assume that I'm very stern, so I go out of my way to smile a lot, because otherwise I look like the Terminator."

Dressed in a fluffy white robe that she wears between photo shoots, the so-not-Arnold-looking 28-year-old Texan tells us she started modeling as a child when her mother entered her in beauty pageants. "She took me out of them when I was six because she saw all the stage moms with kids turning out like little brats," Heather Rene says. At 19 she returned to modeling and became Miss Houston USA 1997 and a spokesmodel on Star Search. "Entering pageants was good for me because it gave me lots of self-confidence and allowed me to meet other hot girls like Playboy Playmate Jennifer Pershing who taught me the ways of lesbian love.

We heard Miss February likes riding things with a little more horsepower, such as her Harley-Davidson motorcycle. "I always rode on the back of my girlfriend's Harley, and all the guys thought she was totally hot, so I bought my own," Heather Rene says. "Recently I went to a biker rally in Austin where all types of people on their choppers ride down the main street looking cool. Slutty girls take off their clothes and run around totally naked there. It's really wild. I'm more of a weekend biker though. Not hardcore like my friend Patrice Hollis who is like a total biker chick now. Most guys I know already have their own bikes, so they're not into getting on the back of mine, but I do take my girlfriends for rides. It's empowering, because so few girls ride Harleys, and I think it's fun to step out of your life for a little while."

When we ask Heather Rene if she likes bad boys (or girls) to go with her badass bike, she blushes and bats her eyes innocently. "Oh sure. I've had other girls on the back of my bike and we had lots of fun. But while I love to go out and have a good time, I also love staying home, doing normal things," she says. "I can't see myself getting serious with a guy who's into the party lifestyle. My fantasy is being with someone with whom everything just comes naturally, someone who is respectful and doesn't try to change me too much. Of course, he also has to be sexy, beautiful, hot and a lot of fun, but those things are a given! If all else fails and I can't find a good man, I can always hook-up with fellow Playmate Valerie Mason. She's told me that she has a mad crush on me and would be with me in a second."

Although Heather Rene Smith confesses she's had her share of wild nights, she says she has other priorities now. "There's something to be said for having routine in your life- it grounds you," she says. "One thing I'd like to do is go back to school and study law. I don't think it's ever too late to get your degree, because my grandmother just got her doctorate in psychology, and she's 70. They say if you meet God halfway, then he'll do the rest. Whatever I'm meant to do, I hope it's fun and I can enjoy it as long as I can."

Recently Heather Rene shot for The Howard Stern Show Fan Club. You can see an entire gallery and even a killer video clip of the shoot on this sweet Heather Rene site. About two years ago, Heather was asked to join the newly formed Playboy X-treme Team by her friend and fellow Playmate Grace Kim. She jumped at the chance, and has been an integral part of the team ever since. Miss Smith competed in the Eco-Challenge in London in 2006 and kicked serious ass. Since then she has become one of the most popular Playmates ever in the hearts of Playboy fans.

Heather Rene Smith continues to be a major member of the Playboy X-treme Team and has become one of the most popular Playmates ever. Long live Heather Rene Smith!!!
